Berry, Banana Chia Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup homemade almond milk 
  • 2 ripened bananas sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh berries (blueberries, black berries, raspberries)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, puree bananas, almond milk and chia seeds until smooth
  2. Place berries into soup/cereal bowls
  3. Pour blended banana-chia-almond milk puree over berries
  4. Serve chilled.

Purpose and Benefits: 

(O-HS)Bananas and almond milk contain tryptophan, an amino acid that serves as a precursor to serotonin. (refer to Podisode on boosting serotonin). Chia seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support brain function and help regulate neurotransmitters like serotonin. Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are loaded with antioxidants and flavonoids, which help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress—both of which can negatively affect serotonin production.
